The Art of Being Outside

The Art of Being Outside

For over 65 years, Snow Peak has bridged the gap between heritage and innovation. Our story began in post-war Japan when our founder Yukio Yamai reconnected with nature and found healing in the mountains. Today, we continue to honour Yukio's legacy of creating outdoor moments that restore our humanity, by crafting equipment that brings us back to nature. As a brand we have undergone many evolutions, but our commitment to sharing the inner calm that nature offers us all remains.

We believe in our ethos of Noasobi - directly translating to “wild play”, Noasobi is the simple joy of being outside: playing, experiencing, and connecting with nature. It’s about slowing down, being in the moment with others, and finding peace. As we enter 2026, we take Noasobi as our lead, and each season we’ll explore a different perspective on the Art of Being Outside.

During the winter, we immerse ourselves in the Art of Rest. We follow nature’s lead as it enjoys its seasonal sleep. Outdoor experiences in these months focus on cosy leisure and peaceful moments of togetherness, all at a slower pace. As nature regenerates its energy for the seasons to come, we do the same.

Thanks to our US colleagues, we follow a family spending a weekend in the woods of Camp Sherman, Oregon in midwinter. Each member of the family – dog included – experiences the peaceful delight of the bright, crisp winter sun. They share restful moments cosied up in their tent before easing into the day with pancakes and coffee. Naps, quiet sunny walks, fetch and reading fill their day. The evening ends with shared time around a blazing campfire.

We hope you can take inspiration from their perspectives and explore new ways to immerse yourself in nature’s restful season.
