Apology and request regarding Ceres (ES-101) and Giga Power Lantern TL (ES-820)/HL (ES-821)

Notice Regarding Product Issues and Our Response

Thank you for your continued support.

We have identified two issues with some of our LED lantern products: a defect in the dimming function and insufficient information in the product descriptions. If you own one of the affected products, please read the details below and follow the recommended steps.

1. Dimmer Malfunction - Ceres (ES-101)

Certain units of the Ceres (ES-101) with serial numbers (Lot. No.) "W24H" and "W24L" have a malfunctioning dimming feature. These products will be recalled and replaced with updated versions that feature a fully functional four-step dimming system.

2. Inaccurate Product Descriptions - Ceres (ES-101), Giga Power Lantern TL (ES-820), Giga Power Lantern HL (ES-821)

The product descriptions for the above models may have given the impression that the lanterns maintain maximum brightness throughout their entire lighting duration. However, as is standard with portable lighting products, the listed operating time is based on the period from full charge until the light output falls to a specified level. We have updated the product information to reflect this and ensure clarity for our customers.

1. Dimmer Malfunction – Ceres (ES-101)

We have recently identified an issue with the dimming function of our LED lantern Ceres (ES-101).

Details of the Issue

The malfunction affects units with the serial numbers (Lot. No.) W24H and W24L. (Please see the instructions below for how to check the serial number on your product.)

The issue occurs after the lantern has been turned on for some time. Specifically, the dimming function for both the upper and lower lights fails to transition to the second brightness level when the dimmer button is pressed. While the problem may temporarily resolve by switching the lantern off and on again, the malfunction recurs after a period of use.

Response Measures

We will voluntarily recall all Ceres (ES-101) units with the affected serial numbers (Lot. No.) W24H or W24L, and replace them with fully functional models featuring a proper four-level dimming function.

How to Check the Serial Number (Lot. No.)

You can find the manufacturing number (Lot. No.) printed on the back of the product.

Voluntary recalls can be done by contacting web@snowpeak.co.uk.

2. Incomplete Product Description

We have identified that the product information provided for our LED lanterns — Ceres (ES-101), Giga Power Lantern TL (ES-820), and Giga Power Lantern HL (ES-821) — lacked sufficient detail, particularly regarding lighting duration.

The descriptions may have led customers to believe that the lanterns maintain maximum brightness throughout the entire stated lighting time. However, as is common with portable lighting products, the lighting duration is actually based on the time it takes for the luminous flux to decrease to a specific percentage from a fully charged state.
